An SC/ST (Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe) cell is established in educational institutions, government bodies, and organizations to support the welfare and development of individuals belonging to the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes. The primary goal is to ensure that SC/ST members receive equal opportunities, rights, and benefits as per governmental guidelines and to address any challenges or discrimination they may face.
Objectives of an SC/ST Cell:
To oversee the proper implementation of reservation policies for SC/ST candidates in admissions, employment, scholarships, and promotions, as mandated by government regulations.
To provide guidance and counseling to SC/ST students and staff on academic, financial, and social matters. This includes assistance in understanding and accessing various schemes, scholarships, and opportunities.
To address and resolve grievances related to discrimination, harassment, or difficulties faced by SC/ST students and employees. The cell acts as a support system to ensure fair treatment and protection of rights.
To organize seminars, workshops, and training sessions to raise awareness about the rights, challenges, and opportunities available to the SC/ST community. These events also aim to create a more inclusive and respectful environment.
To monitor the status and progress of SC/ST students and employees, maintain records, and track the implementation of policies. The cell prepares and submits regular reports to higher authorities on the conditions and needs of SC/ST individuals.
To provide academic support, such as remedial classes, tutoring, and mentoring, to help SC/ST students improve their academic performance. The cell also guides them on career choices, job placements, and higher education opportunities.
To inform and assist SC/ST individuals in accessing various government schemes, subsidies, fellowships, loans, and other welfare programs designed specifically for their benefit.
To ensure SC/ST members have equal access to educational, professional, and extracurricular activities. The aim is to reduce disparities and promote an inclusive atmosphere within the institution.
To actively monitor and prevent any form of discrimination or bias against SC/ST students.
