ADMISSION PROCEDURE

Undergraduate Admissions – University of Calicut (Self-Financing Colleges)

The University of Calicut has implemented a single-window admission process for undergraduate courses in self-financing colleges since the academic year 2014–15. Students seeking admission to these courses are required to apply online through the official Calicut University website and obtain a CAP ID registration number, which is mandatory for both merit and management quota applications. All applications will be processed at the respective colleges.

Applicants seeking admission under the management quota must also fill out a separate form, which is available at the college, upon payment of Rs. 200.

Parents and candidates are advised to regularly check the University notifications published in the relevant sections of leading Malayalam newspapers and on the official University website to stay updated about seat allotments and related announcements.

Documents to be Submitted at the Time of Admission (Originals + Copies):

  • SSLC & Plus Two (+2) Certificates (Originals)
  • Mark lists of the qualifying examination
  • Transfer Certificate (TC) and Conduct Certificate
  • Four passport-size photographs
  • Prescribed admission fees
  • Migration Certificate (for students from other boards)
  • Equivalency Certificate (for students from other universities)

B.A English

Language and Literature Honours

Candidates who have passed the Higher Secondary Examination (HSE) of the Kerala State Board of Higher Secondary Education, with eligibility for higher studies, or any other examination recognized as equivalent thereto, are eligible for admission.

B.Com Computer Application Honours

Candidates who have passed the Higher Secondary Examination (HSE) of the Kerala State Board of Higher Secondary Education, or any other examination recognized as equivalent, with at least one Commerce subject, are eligible for admission to the B.Com degree course.

Candidates who have not studied Commerce at the Higher Secondary or equivalent level are also eligible, provided they have secured not less than 45% marks in aggregate. A relaxation of 5% in marks will be given to OBC/OEC candidates. SC/ST candidates need only a pass to be eligible.

B.Com Finance Honours

Candidates who have passed the Higher Secondary Examination (HSE) of the Kerala State Board of Higher Secondary Education, with eligibility for higher studies, or any other examination recognized as equivalent thereto, with at least one Commerce subject, are eligible for admission to the B.Com degree course.

Co-Operation Honours

Candidates who have passed the Higher Secondary Examination (HSE) of the Kerala State Board of Higher Secondary Education, with eligibility for higher studies, or any other examination recognized as equivalent thereto, and have studied at least one Commerce subject, are eligible for admission to the B.Com degree course.

Candidates who have not studied Commerce at the Higher Secondary or equivalent level are also eligible, provided they have secured not less than 45% marks in aggregate. A relaxation of 5% in marks will be granted to OBC/OEC candidates. SC/ST candidates need only a pass to be eligible.

BBA Honours

Candidates who have passed the Higher Secondary Examination (HSE) of the Kerala State Board of Higher Secondary Education, with eligibility for higher studies, or any other examination recognized as equivalent thereto, with not less than 45% marks, are eligible for admission.

A relaxation of 5% in marks will be granted to OBC/OEC candidates. SC/ST candidates need only a pass to be eligible.

B.Sc Computer Science Honours

B.Sc

Electronics Honours

Candidates who have passed the Higher Secondary Examination (HSE) of the Kerala State Board of Higher Secondary Education, with eligibility for higher studies, or any other examination recognized as equivalent thereto, in the Science stream with Mathematics as a compulsory subject and Physics or Electronics as one of the optional subjects, are eligible for admission to the B.Sc. Electronics programme of the University of Calicut.

BSc Food Technology Honours

Candidates who have passed the Higher Secondary Examination (HSE) of the Kerala State Board of Higher Secondary Education, with eligibility for higher studies, or any other examination recognized as equivalent thereto, with Science and Mathematics, are eligible for admission.

M.A English

Film Studies & Literature and Ecology

Candidates with a B.A. in English Language & Literature, B.A. English & History, B.A. Functional English, or B.A. English with Islamic History, or those holding a B.A./B.Sc. degree (excluding alternative pattern) with English as a Common Course (Part I) from the University of Calicut or an equivalent degree, with at least 45% aggregate marks or an equivalent overall CGPA, are eligible for admission.

OBC/OEC candidates are eligible for a relaxation of up to 5% in marks. SC/ST candidates need only a pass to be eligible.

Candidates from the non-B.A. (English) category applying for the M.A. English Language & Literature programme must appear for an Entrance Test. A minimum score of 50% in the Entrance Test is required for admission in this category.

Admission for such candidates will be to one seat reserved in each affiliated college offering the M.A. English Language & Literature programme. This seat is set apart from the General Quota.

M.com

Finance

Any candidate who has passed the B.Com or BBA (formerly BBS) degree of the University of Calicut, or a recognized B.Com, BBA, BBM, or BBS degree from any other university or institute in any state, with a minimum of 45% aggregate marks or equivalent overall CGPA, is eligible for admission to the M.Com programme.

OBC/OEC candidates are eligible for a relaxation of up to 5% in marks. SC/ST candidates need only a pass to be eligible.

In the case of B.Com (Honours), B.Com (Professional), and BBA (Honours) degrees, the minimum eligibility for admission is 50% aggregate marks or equivalent overall CGPA, applicable to all categories of students.

Web Technology & Data Mining

The candidate should have secured at least 55% aggregate marks or an equivalent overall CGPA in any of the following degrees from the University of Calicut or from any other recognized institution:

●      B.Sc. in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronics, Physics, Mathematics, Statistics, or Chemistry

●      BCA

●      B.Voc in Software Technology, Software Development, Data Science, Mathematics and AI, or IT

OR

At least 55% aggregate marks or equivalent overall CGPA in B.Tech/ B.E. in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronics, Electronics and Telecommunication, or Electronics and Communication, recognized by this University.

OBC/OEC candidates are eligible for a relaxation of up to 5% in marks. SC/ST candidates need only a pass to be eligible.

M.Sc

Electronics

VLSI Design & MEMS and NEMS

Candidates with a B.Sc. degree in Electronics, Physics, Computer Science, or Instrumentation from the University of Calicut or an equivalent degree, having studied Electronics as one of the subjects and Mathematics as a compulsory complementary course, are eligible for admission, provided they have secured at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA in Part III (Core and Complementary subjects combined).

OBC/OEC candidates are eligible for a relaxation of up to 5% in marks. SC/ST candidates need only a pass to be eligible.
